The Annual General Meeting took place on 23rd July and included presentations to Ian Sier who is leaving the area after being the linchpin of the campaign to save Speckled Wood for many years. A full report will follow.
The chair, Tony Polain, presented the annual report which you can download here about the Trust’s achievements including the successful designation of the whole wood as community open space in the Council’s Development Management Plan and future plans including the Village Green and the Ore Valley Greenway. The Trust now needs to change gear as it ceases to be a campaigning group and starts to acquire land to ensure the Wood is safe from development in perpetuity.

Speckled Wood Celebration Day
This is a day of fun and adventure for all the family in Speckled Wood. It will be held on Saturday 25th June from 11am to 3pm. It will be held around the green next the Salvation Army hall and in the woods themselves. It is a free event.
There will be Art Workshops, Story Telling, Wood Crafts, Forestry Workshops and more. All ages are welcome. Please bring a picnic and make it a fun family day in the (hopefully) sunshine!
Radiator Arts and In2Play are hosting the event, and local storyteller Ed Boxall will weave his magic and enchant children of all ages! Big Local North East Hastings and Hastings Lions Club have funded this to make the day possible.
Ore Community Land Trust – Annual General Meeting
The AGM for 2016 has been arranged for Saturday 23rd July starting at 10am and finishing by 1pm. It will be held at the Salvation Army Hall, 414 Old London Road, Ore.
Please put the date in your diary. The AGM will be a very important meeting as this will be the first one since the wood was declared protected open greenspace, following the Inspector’s decision last year. There will be a short meeting, followed by updates and news, and a chance to celebrate some more!
The AGM is a public meeting and local residents, supporters and others are welcome to attend to hear about our work and our plans for 2016 and beyond. It is a good opportunity to renew your membership for 2016/2017 and for new members to join. Download Membership Application form
